PRODUCER

Through his 24 years of commitment and passion to art, and theatre Luis Salgado
has developed a need to make art that matters, art that serves a purpose and real storytelling. Luis first had a taste for producing while running his school in his native Puerto Rico, producing Por Amor al Arte, and Verano Ensueño among others. In NYC Luis choose Ser o No Cer…vantes, as his first theatre production, to create an awareness of the work of the magical Hispanic writer Miguel De Cervantes.

Since 2011 Luis has been committed to producing work that elevates communities and tells the unspoken stories that unite. He joined the producing team of the Tony award winning production of Peter and the Starcatcher and the 2011 revival of Godspell. Luis has taken his experience from producing in New York to South America using Godspell as an example of community building through the arts while producing Candele Fuerza y Pasion and Peruvian artist Cecilia Bracamonte’s concert, Aniversario Sin Cuenta.

Other NYC credits include Amigo Duende, R.Evolución Latina’s Choreographers Festival 2011, Gracias Mujeres, Broadway’s R.Evolución Latina, a concert in collaboration with TeatroStageFest at Joe’s Pub, Yemaya’s Belly, a reading of the play by Quiara Alegria Hudes. His first CD album “Dare To Go Beyond” brought together latin artists from Broadway to promote the motto and philosophy that has made his non-profit organization R.Evolución Latina successful. Luis continues to seek those stories and art that gives hope, faith and communicates something more that just entertainment. Salgado Production was created as a venue for these new projects to be produced while focusing on the process of the work.

His culture and social beliefs have given him the opportunities to work with some of the biggest companies as well as the most organic and low key organizations teaching him the balance between art and commerce.
